  1. Define automation objective

    Clarify the goal of the automation (e.g., segment subscribers by behavior or apply updates to profiles). Establish measurable outcomes and success criteria that will be used to verify the automation works as intended.

  2. Select trigger for automation

    Choose an event that starts the automation, such as a tag being applied, a form submission, a purchase, or a subscriber profile update. Ensure the trigger aligns with the objective.

  3. Create the automation container

    Create a new automation/workflow with a clear, descriptive name that reflects its segmentation or update purpose. This container will house all rules and actions.

  4. Add entry rules (conditions)

    Define entry conditions that identify who should enter the automation. Use clear AND/OR logic to include the intended audience and exclude others as needed.

  5. Add actions to apply tags or segments

    Configure actions that tag subscribers, add them to a segment, or update subscriber fields. Include any related actions (e.g., enroll in a sequence) as appropriate to the objective.

  6. Create conditional branches

    Set up branches based on subscriber attributes or behavior (e.g., if has Tag A, do X; else if has Tag B, do Y). Ensure branches are mutually exclusive where required.

  1. Open Automate Area

    In the top navigation, click Automate. Then select Rules.

  2. Create New Rule

    Click + New rule at the top-right to start.

  3. Set Triggers

    Choose a trigger type (e.g., Subscribes to a sequence, Tag added) and, if needed, select a tag or sequence.

  4. Add Additional Triggers

    Click the + button under the trigger to include more triggers for the same rule.

  5. Set Actions

    Choose actions (e.g., Subscribe to a sequence, Add tag) and configure their targets.

  6. Add Additional Actions

    Click + under actions to add more steps.

  7. Save and Enable

    Click Save Rule. The rule is enabled automatically and starts running when triggers fire.

    On the Rules page, select the rule and click Disable.

    In the top navigation, click Automate. Then click Rules to access the automation rules list.

    On the Rules page, press the + New Rule button in the top-right corner to start a new automation rule.

    Choose the Tag added trigger to start the rule when a tag is added to a subscriber.

  4. Select 'Course buyers' tag

    From your tag list, select the 'Course buyers' tag to define the trigger.

  5. Add another trigger (optional)

    Click the + under the trigger to add more triggers if you want the rule to fire on multiple events.

  6. Set action: Unsubscribe from a sequence

    Add an action and select Unsubscribe from a sequence to remove the subscriber from a specific sequence.

  7. Select 'Course pitch' sequence

    Choose the 'Course pitch' sequence to unsubscribe the subscriber from it when triggered.

  8. Add another action (optional)

    Click + under the action to add more actions, such as tagging or setting a field.

  9. Save Rule

    Click the Save Rule button. The rule is saved and enabled automatically.

  10. Confirm activation

    Verify the rule appears as Enabled on the main Rules page and will run when its triggers occur.

  11. View trigger history

    Open the rule from the Rules page, then scroll to the bottom of its settings to see the latest 50 triggers with dates and subscribers.

  12. Disable the rule

    On the Rules page, select the rule and click the Disable option near the Automation Rule heading to stop it from running.

  13. Re-enable the rule

    To resume, click Enable near the Automation Rule heading.

  14. Delete the rule

    Open the rule and click Delete Rule. Note: Deleting removes the rule and its trigger history.

  15. Edit for tweaks or testing

    If needed, reopen the rule to adjust triggers or actions, or test by simulating a subscriber event.

How to A/B test subject lines and email content Free possible
  1. Open Kit And Navigate To Broadcasts

    In Kit, go to the left navigation and click Broadcasts to view your list of broadcasts and drafting options.

  2. Edit Or Create Broadcast

    Open an existing Broadcast you want to test, or start a new one by clicking Create Broadcast.

  3. Enable A/B Testing

    In the Broadcast editor, locate the Run an A/B Test toggle in the right sidebar and switch it on. Alternatively, click the flask icon next to the subject line to enter A/B test settings.

  4. Choose A/B Test Type

    From the A/B test options, select Subject lines as the test type.

  5. Enter Subject Line Variants

    Use the default two fields to input Subject Line Variant A and Variant B. If you are on Creator Pro, click + Add another subject line to include up to five variants.

  6. Fill Variant Details

    Ensure each variant is clear and distinct. Label them clearly (e.g., Variant A, Variant B, etc.).

  7. Access Settings Tab

    Switch to the Settings tab within the A/B test panel to configure duration.

  8. Set A/B Test Duration

    Use the slider or type a value in the minutes field to set a duration between 30 and 240 minutes (240 minutes is the default).

  9. Save A/B Test Settings

    Click Save in the A/B test panel to apply and lock in your variant setup and duration.

  10. Send or Schedule Broadcast

    Return to the main Broadcast view and choose Send Now or Schedule to delivery. The A/B test will run automatically as configured.

  11. Edit An Existing A/B Test

    If needed, click the flask icon next to the subject line or click Edit A/B test in the right sidebar to modify variants or duration.

  12. End A/B Test Early

    If you want to stop the test early, open the Broadcast's Analytics report, click the three vertical dots, and select Cancel A/B test.

  13. Handle Test Cancellation

    If canceled, the Broadcast will only be sent to test recipients. To complete delivery, navigate to Recipients, select those who have already received the email, tag them (e.g., "Cancelled A/B test"), duplicate the Broadcast, and send to the remaining recipients excluding the tagged ones. Remove the temporary tag after completion.

  14. Review Results

    Open the Analytics page to view per-variant open rates. The winning variant is highlighted with a green trophy when the test ends.

  15. Test Email Content (Optional)

    If you also want to test content, switch the A/B test type to Content and repeat steps 6–12 for content variants, ensuring adequate sample sizes.

  16. Automatic Winner Rollout

    After the test completes, Kit automatically sends the winning subject line (and content, if tested) to the remaining recipients.

How can I create automated email sequences for new subscribers? Paid required
  1. Open Automations

    In the top navigation, click Automations under the Automate tab, then click + New automation.

  2. Start from scratch

    On the next screen, click Start from scratch to build your Visual Automation from the ground up.

  3. Add first entry point

    Click the ➕ button to add an entry point. Choose from Joins a form, Is added to a Tag, Custom field, or Purchase.

  4. Configure entry point

    Select the specific Form/Landing Page, Tag, Custom Field condition, or purchase trigger.

  5. Add a new step

    Below the entry point, click the ➕ to add a Step. Choose Event, Action, or Condition.

  6. Choose an Action

    Select Action to move subscribers to a Sequence or apply a Tag.

  7. Select the Sequence

    From the Action options, pick the welcome email Sequence you want to start for entrants.

  8. Add delays or conditions

    Optionally insert an Event to hold, or a Condition to gate the next step based on subscriber data.

  9. Add more steps

    Continue adding steps to build the lifecycle (e.g., timing delays, branching). Use the ➕ button as needed.

  10. Autosave

    Note: The builder autosaves as you go; you won’t lose progress.

  11. Activate the automation

    Click the Active toggle in the top-right of the builder to turn the Visual Automation on.

  12. Test and verify

    Remember automations aren’t retroactive; test by signing up to the Form after activation to verify timing.
